Bus to Kids’ art class
So I was determined to avoid the 12 mile round trip to Art class from Mtn View to Sunnyvale. Wouldn’t you know school let out 5 minutes late at 3:10? I urged my kids–10 & 7– to hurry as we speed walked to the only bus that would get us to Art on time. We got to the stop with a minute to spare but the 3:21 bus arrived at 3:30. Phew. It was a cushy short ride to the next stop but there were groans and moans from the kids as we walked the additional 10 minutes to get to Art at 4:00. Two hours later, the kids already got the drill and knew we had to move fast in order to make the bus back or we would be in Sunnyvale another hour. They seemed much happier on the ride home–especially since I had bought snacks and we stopped by the local playground on our walk home from the bus—something we would never have done had we driven. Got to spend much more quality time face to face with the kids. Downside – $10 bus fare and my daughter’s water bottle oozed all over my laptop and my now defunct hard drive while it tossed around in my backpack. As I explained to them, no one said that lowering our carbon footprint was going to be easy!
