Drive Less Challenge Results and Winners
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Drive Less Challenge this year! In its second year, there were 400 people involved. Participants logged over 29,000 green miles, equivalent to replacing of 17,500 pounds of carbon emissions during the two week challenge period.
Everyone who participated – each of us who were thoughtful about we got from place to place, everyone who was able to make some changes, everyone who helped others – contributed to changing practices to help the environment and combat climate change.
This email announces the prize winners – those who did the most to drive less in a variety of categories. The Drive Less Challenge has many ways to win, because there are different ways to drive less.
Congratulations to all of the prize winners, for your achievements, and for being great role models for others!
If you’ve won a prize, it would be great if you’d be willing to tell your story to help others learn from your experience – go to http://drivelesschallenge.com and click “share your story”.
There are prizes for:
* greenest travel – least CO2 emissions
* greenest travel – most trips with no car miles
* most improved (most car miles reduced compared to baseline)
* most green trips
* most green miles
* most use of each alternative (walking, biking, carpool, train, bus, small electric)
* greenest groups
Winners are listed overall, and for each of the four participating cities (Mountain View, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Burlingame). Participants in the four participating cities are eligible for prizes contributed by merchants in those cities. People who don’t live or work in those cities are announced in the list of winners but are not eligible for prizes.
