Challenge Day 2: Saturday, Apr 23, 8:30 am
Day 2 of my personal challenge: to bike to one errand every day during the Drive Less Challenge that I would have normally taken a car.
Today was a tricky errand. Tomorrow is Easter and we are tagged with bringing a dish and a dessert to the family gathering. I needed some fresh produce. Hey, no sweat, right? A quick trip to the market. No problem. But, I also needed to pick up an 11 inch fruit tart from Draegers. Was making this a bike errand even possible? Or did disaster await?
I started my journey at 7:30 am. I figured traffic would be light. I am fortunate to have a wonderful bike basket that can be easily removed and converted into a shopping basket. And, to my delight, the tart box fit nicely on top. With a bungie net securing my items, it was not problem load up my bike safely.
Lety, the young woman who worked the bakery counter at Draegers, was kind enough to snap a photo, proving my story. She was unfamiliar with the Drive Less Challenge, but smiled and laughed when I explained my personal challenge for the two weeks.
I made it home by 8:07. Yep, it only took 37 minutes, door to door. And to prove my success, here’s a photo of fruit tart, in tact!
